I am a software engineer who loves exploring systems and redesigning with efficiency in mind. I am passionate about thinking through how we work on a project, focusing on smart work vs hard work.
My unconventional background brings a great new perspective to all projects. While working in museums, I began coding at night as a creative outlet. Eventually, I turned my hobby into a new career. After excelling at working and parenting two small children through COVID, I stepped back from my career to take a break. I am excited to be picking up projects again and meeting new people while I figure out what is next for me.
HTML
I translate mockups into semantic HTML. I love thinking about the best tags for the job!
CSS
I use CSS to build great user experiences. I am familiar with Sass and CSS in JS, which help efficiently build these experiences and keep an organized codebase.
JavaScript
I fell in love with coding through Javascript and learned some basics building a "choose your own adventure game." Now, I build both static and dynamic websites that utilize Javascript.
React
I have experience using Backbone, Angular and React. React is my prefered framework for a variety of reasons including its testability, performance, and code organization. Honestly, I have the most fun developing in this framework!
AWS
I use a variety of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deploy and maintain enterprise web applications. I have managed and created groovy scripts for creating continuous deployment pipelines on the enterprise level.
Organization & Communication
I have a unique background in managing large teams and organizing massive public events prior to starting my software engineering career. I have extensive experience working and parenting small children during COVID. I am used to juggling multiple projects and communicating about their progress.
